Interested in volunteering at our current project?

St Andrew’s
Methodist Church,
Old Bank Road, Mirfield.

Tuesday  4.00pm - 6.00pm

If you are interested in volunteering at the current project.

The session runs from 4.00pm - 6.00pm Tuesday. (Volunteers are expected to arrive a little earlier to help set up.)

Young people drop in for a chat and refreshments. They have the opportunity to play board games or participate in various arts and crafts. There are also regular cooking sessions, where they can participate in the preparation of food and learn other useful kitchen skills including healthy eating and budgeting for a meal. This is very popular, and everyone enjoys eating the results.

We aim to continue providing these and other new activities. To do this we need new volunteers who can offer new skills and interests. If you can help in the provision of new or existing activities and you are comfortable with discussing topics that are of interest to the young people then we could really use your help.

Below are some of the requirements we might expect of our volunteers. Don’t worry if you cannot meet all of them. A commitment to help young people is all that matters.

We require volunteer assistant youth workers to help run our project. You would help to broaden our range of activities to include arts, sports, cooking and various life skills. Duties include signing young people in, assisting with delivery of sessions - setting up and packing away. A willingness to listen, talk, interact and motivate young people is essential. You should be prepared to discuss topics which may be outside your comfort zone.

Volunteers are required for our current session on Tuesdays from 3.45pm until 6.30pm

A good volunteer youth worker should

•   have respect for the individual values of each young person

•   be a positive role model for young people

•   be willing to learn and develop their skills for working with young   people

•   be prepared to engage in the sessions various activities
